Hatzolah involved in accident

ROL: A Hatzollah EMT rushing to the Arden Hill campus of Orange Regional Medical Center ran a red light and collided with a Honda driven by an off-duty New York City cop yesterday afternoon.The city cop, 42-year-old Mayra Liciaga, was turning left to get on Route 17 east at Exit 130. The EMT, driving an unmarked minivan but with a flashing red lights on the dash and grill and EMT plates, went around traffic and through the red light at the intersection with Route 208, striking Liciaga's Accord on the passenger side and spinning it around.The EMT, Shloima Schvimmer, 36, was transporting the grandmother of a 4-year-old child to Arden Hill. The child, who was taken to the hospital for an allergic reaction, was in a separate ambulance.Minor injuries were reported.Hatzollah is the ambulance corps of the Village of Kiryas Joel. State police have issued no tickets, but are determining whether Schvimmer should have been driving in an emergency manner.
