Shul Kidnapping

MAC: A 75-year-old New York man, kidnapped from a synagogue, managed to escape from the trunk of his abductors` car where he had been imprisoned for an hour.Nassau police have not disclosed the man`s identity, but the synagogue`s Rabbi Bini Maryles said the man was fine physically if still shaken hours after his escape, reports Newsday. 'He`s thankful to be healthy, alive and OK,' Maryles said.Police said the man, who has been involved with the temple for more than 20 years, was preparing the facility for an early morning service when two masked gunmen confronted him.They threatened to kill him if he didn`t hand over money. After he said he didn`t have any money, the robbers ordered him to give them his ATM card and personal identification number.Later, police said the gunmen took the keys to the victim`s car and made him sit in the vehicle`s back seat. Later they forced him into the trunk, the report said. An hour or so later when the vehicle had stopped, the man managed to free himself and call police.
