Shul in Russa - Vandalized

FJC: LIPETSK, Russia – The building of the Jewish Community Center, which was intended to host the first Synagogue in the entire Lipetsk Region, was vandalized yesterday. According to Rabbi Shaul Adam, a Chabad Lubavitch emissary, who has served as the city’s Chief Rabbi since last autumn, vandals drew a Fascist swastika on the property with permanent paint. Located near to the building’s main entrance on the brick fence surrounding the building, this horrific symbol is visible to all passers-by and a particular eyesore for local Jews and others who suffered at the hands of the Nazis during World War Two. “We believe this to be a problem for not only the Jewish Community, but for all residents of Lipetsk,” expressed Rabbi Adam. “We are hopeful that the hooligans who outraged the Jewish Community Center will be detained and brought to justice.”
