New IDF Chief Rabbi

Arutzsheva: Israel’s Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi, Yona Metzger, has congratulated Rabbi Avichai Ronsky of the Jewish community of Itamar in Samaria for being named the next Chief Rabbi of the IDF, a position that holds the rank of Brigadier General.Rabbi Ronsky heads the yeshiva (torah seminary) in Itamar and opposed the call to refuse orders during last summer’s withdrawal from Gaza and northern Samaria, which uprooted and destroyed 25 Jewish communities, forcing 10,000 Jews from their homes.
